  Jiffy DTF transfers can be peeled hot or cold. We recommend a warm peel: after pressing, wait about 15 to 20 seconds, then peel the carrier film away and press again briefly to lock in the design.

• How do you apply a DTF transfer at home?

  To apply a DTF transfer at home you need a heat press (a household iron works for small designs) and the printed transfer. Place the transfer on the garment, press it under firm, even heat, let it cool, then peel away the film. The design is ready to wear after pressing.

• What is the difference between a DTF gang sheet and ordering DTF by size?

  A DTF gang sheet and 'by size' ordering are two ways to buy the same direct-to-film transfers. With 'by size,' you upload one design and Jiffy lays it out on the roll for you. With a gang sheet, you arrange several designs yourself on one large sheet to maximize space and value.

• Does the DTF heat-press temperature change by fabric?

  Yes - DTF heat-press settings vary by fabric. Cotton and cotton blends press hotter, polyester and performance fabrics press cooler to avoid scorching, and delicate or stretchy materials need a lower temperature and gentler pressure. Always follow the temperature, time, and pressure on the instructions included with your transfer, and test-press one piece on a scrap first.

• Why is my DTF transfer lifting or pulling up when I press it?

  If your DTF transfer lifts or pulls up while pressing, the press is usually too cool, too hot, or under pressure. Check that your heat press reaches the recommended temperature, apply firm even pressure for the full press time, then peel and re-press a few seconds to lock it down.

• Why pre-press the garment before applying a DTF transfer?

  Pre-pressing means briefly heat-pressing the blank garment before you apply the transfer. It removes moisture and wrinkles from the fabric and warms it evenly. A dry, flat, pre-heated surface helps the adhesive bond fully during pressing, which reduces the lifting and peeling that trapped moisture or creases can cause.

• Can you press DTF transfers on polyester or performance athletic wear?

  Yes. DTF transfers apply to polyester, performance, and stretchy athletic fabrics, but those fabrics can scorch or gloss under high heat, so lower your press temperature and protect the surface. Use a lower temperature setting, cover the design with a Teflon or parchment sheet, apply firm but medium (not heavy) pressure, and pre-press briefly to remove moisture. Because heat tolerance varies by fabric blend, test one garment before pressing a full run.

To keep a transfer from lifting, follow the press time, temperature, and pressure on the product's instructions, pre-press the garment first, let the film cool for about 15 to 20 seconds, then peel it away (Jiffy DTF transfers can be peeled hot or cold; a warm peel is recommended), and wait before the first wash. Washing inside out on a cold, gentle cycle and skipping high-heat drying also extends how long the print lasts.
