How to Make Your DTF Creations Last
You've spent time choosing the perfect design, finding the right blank, and pressing your DTF transfer to perfection. The last thing you want is for your creation to fade or crack after a few washes. As a fellow crafter, I've learned the hard way that proper care is just as important as the pressing process.
With proper application and care, DTF prints can handle up to 60 washes without showing signs of wear and tear. To help you protect your hard work, I've put together my go-to wash and care tips.
My Top 5 Tips for Long-Lasting DTF Prints
- Wash Inside-Out: This simple step protects the transfer from friction and abrasion with other clothes in the washer.
- Use Cold Water & a Gentle Cycle: Hot water can damage the print and fade colors over time, so stick to cold water and a delicate or gentle cycle.
- Use a Mild Detergent: Harsh chemicals, bleach, and fabric softeners can all slowly eat away at the transfer's adhesive. Use a mild, gentle detergent to keep your design looking fresh.
- Air Dry or Tumble Dry Low: The best way to dry your DTF garment is to lay it flat or hang it up. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting to avoid damage to the print.
- No Direct Ironing: If you need to iron the garment, turn it inside out and use a low heat setting. Never iron directly on the transfer, as it can melt or damage the design.
Following these tips will help your DTF creations last as long as the garment itself. For more information on DTF application and care, visit Jiffy's Jiffy Transfers FAQs page. And remember to turn your projects inside-out before washing!
