DTF Troubleshooting in Real Time: 5 Fixes to Save a Black Friday Order
When your press is hot, your DTF film is ready, and you’re two orders deep before coffee, things can go wrong fast. Before panic sets in, here are five quick fixes to rescue a print and save your weekend.
1. Corners Not Sticking?
Add 5°F and re-press for 5 seconds using parchment paper.If the corner still lifts, check your pressure-uneven pressure is the #1 culprit.
2. Dull or Faded Colors After Pressing
Your press might be too hot. Lower by 10-15°F and shorten your press time slightly.DTF inks can lose vibrancy from overexposure to heat.
3. Cracking After Washing
Always let your shirt cool before peeling. Peeling too hot can stretch the film.Also, remind customers to wash inside-out, cold cycle, and hang dry every time.
4. Sticky or Cloudy Film Residue
Wipe the surface gently with a lint roller or microfiber cloth, then repress with parchment for 3 seconds.Never scrape, that’ll scratch your design.
5. Ghosting or Shadow Prints
You’re moving your press too soon. Let transfers cool completely before stacking or folding.If it’s already happened, repress the area with medium heat for a few seconds and it'll smooth most ghost marks.
